TameTV on Nvidia Shield: expected support
Expected: WorksExpected: from platform research, not yet tested on a real device.
From platform research, we expect TameTV to work on Nvidia Shield.
Your Nvidia Shield today
- Runs
- Android TV 9 to 11.
- Built-in kids controls
- Android's restricted profiles, not Google kids profiles.
What to know about Nvidia Shield
- The Shield is the most open of the devices we've looked at.
On every Android TV and Google TV
- TameTV will need Android 9 or newer.
- To lock the TV, TameTV will need Android's Accessibility permission on Android 10 and up.
- Android 17 has an opt-in setting called Advanced Protection. If you turn it on, it switches off the Accessibility permission TameTV uses to lock the TV.
- Some TVs hide the "draw over other apps" setting. TameTV doesn't need it.
What TameTV will do on Nvidia Shield
- Daily budget, per kid
- Per-app limits
- Allowed hours
- From your phone, anywhere
