Privacy policy

Who we are

TameTV runs tametv.com and is responsible for the personal data described here. For anything in this policy, email hello@tametv.com.

What we collect when you join the waitlist

• What you type in: your email address and, only if you choose to tell us, your TV brand and your TV model.
• What we add: the country your visit came from (worked out from your connection, not asked), whether you used a phone, a computer or a TV, the site language, the first page of your visit, the website that sent you there, any campaign tags in the link you followed, when you signed up and confirmed, and which version of this policy you agreed to.
• A scrambled form of your IP address. We mix it with a secret value and keep only the result, which we use to spot abuse such as mass sign-ups. We don't store the IP address itself.

We never ask for your child's name or anything about your child beyond that age range.

We use this to send your confirmation email and updates about TameTV, to learn which TVs to support and test first, and to see which pages and links bring people to the waitlist.

Emails we send

After you sign up, we send one email asking you to confirm. If you don't confirm, we send nothing else.

Once you confirm, we email you about TameTV's progress, when it is ready to try, and the founder price for waitlist members. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Analytics and cookies

• Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and measures page speed on every page. It uses no cookies and does not identify you.
• Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, tells us which pages and sources lead to sign-ups. It uses cookies. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it stays off until you accept it in the cookie banner. Elsewhere it is on unless you turn it off. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
• We have turned off Google's optional data sharing, and we use no advertising cookies.
• The waitlist form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is signing up. Turnstile looks at information from your browser and device. Cloudflare explains how in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Why we may use your data

Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, we rely on:

• Your consent, for the waitlist and its emails, and for Google Analytics where we ask first. You can withdraw it at any time. That does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
• Our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website, for Cloudflare Web Analytics, Turnstile and the scrambled IP address.

Who handles your data for us

We don't sell your personal information, we don't share it for advertising, and we don't let anyone use it for their own purposes. These companies process it on our behalf:

• Cloudflare: hosting, the waitlist database (kept in Cloudflare's Western Europe region), Turnstile, Web Analytics, and forwarding emails sent to hello@tametv.com.
• Resend: sending our emails, from its EU region in Ireland.
• Google: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

Some of these companies are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. They protect these transfers with the safeguards the law provides, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

We will also disclose data if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

• Waitlist entries, confirmed or not: until you ask us to delete yours, or until we close the waitlist after launch.
• If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address marked as unsubscribed, so we never email you again by mistake. Ask us and we will delete it completely.
• Google Analytics data: no more than 14 months.
• Emails you send us: as long as we need them to answer you.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. You can also object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Email hello@tametv.com from the address you signed up with, and we will reply within one month.

If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law: we don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising, as those laws define it.

Children

This site and the waitlist are for parents and other adults, and children should not sign up. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete the entry.

Security

The site only loads over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only the TameTV team can reach the waitlist database, and we store a scrambled IP address rather than the address itself.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use waitlist data, we will email confirmed waitlist members before it takes effect.
